Joanne Burns

Kevin and the Dream Stone

Twelve-year-old Kevin dreams of being the best – but the only thing he’s good at is being average, and when his lies get the better of him, he feels like the worst. When a mysterious girl gives him a magical Dream Stone, Kevin discovers he can fly and is thrust into a daring mission in a castle hotel where only he can prevent a kidnapping. As the situation spirals out of control, can Kevin learn how to be comfortable in his own skin and save the day?

This magical MG contemporary adventure will appeal to fans of Percy Jackson. The portrayal of a pre-teen struggling with family and friendship will appeal to fans of Lisa Thompson’s The Rollercoaster Boy.

Burns writes magical MG adventure stories about normal Northern Irish kids, struggling with friendship, family and life in general. By unleashing the magic deep inside themselves, they go on a journey of adventure and self-discovery.

A former teacher and school principal, Burns brings 18 years of experience with children to her writing. She keeps the magic alive by travelling, reading lots of books, and letting her kids teach her how to kill the Ender Dragon in Minecraft or make personalised play-lists in Spotify. She lives in Barcelona, Spain.
